With this in mind, the <strong>CaixaForum Tarragona<\/strong> will be presenting, until January 11, \u201cEls objectes parlen\u201d (literally, \u201cObjects can speak\u201d), an exhibition with 60 paintings and objects belonging to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museodelprado.es\/en\/\">El Prado Museum<\/a><\/strong> that become a detailed selection of works between 16th and 19th centuries. The exhibition, which includes masterworks by artists such as <strong>Goya<\/strong>, <strong>Rubens<\/strong>, <strong><em>El Greco<\/em><\/strong>,<strong> Giordano<\/strong>, <strong>Sorolla<\/strong><strong>, Murillo<\/strong>, <strong>Zurbar\u00e1n<\/strong>, <strong>Ribera<\/strong> o <strong>Brueghel<\/strong> <em><strong>the Elder<\/strong><\/em>, is one of the most important ever to be hosted in the city. In case this was not enough, the collection will exhibit only in <strong>Tarragona<\/strong> <em>The last supper<\/em>, by <strong>Bartolom\u00e9 Carducho<\/strong>, to be admired for the very first time since it was restored. We went to see all this with <strong>Anna Cat\u00e0<\/strong>, who works for <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/aurigasc.com\/es\/visita-tarragona\/\">Auriga Serveis Culturals<\/a><\/strong>, the company in charge of the guided visits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa33.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"1312\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa33-1024x691.jpg\" alt=\"Retrat de &#039;La duquesa d&#039;Abrantes&#039;, de Goya \/ \u00a9Vilaniu Comunicaci\u00f3\" width=\"640\" height=\"431\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa33-1024x691.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa33-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This journey starts with a <strong>Francisco de Goya<\/strong> that shows the <em>Duchess of Abrantes <\/em>(1816) holding a music piece. What is the painting trying to suggest? That nobility had an illustrated education. \u201cObjects can speak\u201d, said the philosopher <strong>Martin Heidegger<\/strong> reflecting on the gaze of artists and their ability to dignify what they display in their works; and it really is true. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa31.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"1313\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa31-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"&#039;El xarlat\u00e0 arrencaqueixals&#039; de Theodoor Rombouts, amb un collaret ple de dents. \/ \u00a9Vilaniu Comunicaci\u00f3\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1313\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa31-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa31-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Opposite the <em>Duchess of Abrantes<\/em>, we find<em> The tooth extractor<\/em> (1620-1625), by <strong>Theodoor Rombouts<\/strong>. In this case, the objects we can see in the painting are, by themselves, the main protagonists of the composition, and become key elements so to recognise the depicted scene. The extractor displayed all his surgical instruments he needs in order to perform his work. He is actually carrying a collar made of teeth that comes to prove his professional success. Curiosity: the patient is shown handcuffed, while the rest of the people waiting to be seen are showing faces full of pain\u2026 and fear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"1314\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa23-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"L&#039;arxiduc Ferran mostrant el Tois\u00f3 d&#039;or. \/ \u00a9Vilaniu Comunicaci\u00f3\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa23-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/caixa23-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can judge a man by his belongings\u201d. Clothes, jewellery, instruments\u2026 objects depict us.
