We know from novels, but specially, from cinema that wealthy Romans used to love proper food. In other words, they were the foodies<\/em> of today. Now, those Roman gourmands<\/em> would have their mouths watering if they read about the gastronomy creations thirteen local restaurants will be offering during the brand new edition of Tarraco a Taula<\/strong>, as part of the Tarraco Viva<\/strong> festival: stuffed sardines over pumpkin; roasted lamb as per Apicius<\/em> with sugar coated mushrooms and coriander; free-range chicken casserole with figs and apricots; haddock with Alexandrine<\/em> sauce, peas and almonds; mussel and calamari casserole with herbs; lightly roasted tuna with garum<\/em> foam (fish sauce) and trout eggs; smoked pork with thyme and rosemary\u2026 Dishes for every taste\u2026 and every pocket!<\/p>\n

The way this year\u2019s Tarraco a Taula<\/strong> is laid out resembles previous editions, by means of three different offers: dishes, tastings and portions that go from the 3\u20ac to 9\u20ac; and menus, at 25\u20ac and 35\u20ac. Besides all this though, visitors will also find a 500g mussels tasting, cooked in the Roman style, plus two glasses of wine for just 10\u20ac, in 7 different restaurants. The Alhambra<\/strong> restaurant, the most veteran establishment of all those taking part in the Tarraco a Taula<\/strong>, will cook mussels with moratum<\/em>; the Ares<\/strong> will add leek and Winter savory to them; the C\u00f3cvla<\/strong>, will use onions, garum<\/em> and mulsum<\/em> (Roman wine); the Entrecopes<\/strong>, will add garum<\/em>; the mussels cooked by El Llagut<\/strong> will be from the Delta<\/strong> area (Southern Catalonia), and cooked as per Apicius<\/em>, as Txar3verd<\/strong> will also do; while Palau del Bar\u00f3<\/strong> will be cooking them in the Alexandria<\/em> style.<\/p>\n

The Alhambra<\/strong>, Almosta<\/strong> and El Cortijo<\/strong> restaurants will be offering their gastronomy creations in the form of dishes, tastings and portions. On the other hand, Ares<\/strong>, C\u00f3cvla<\/strong>, El Llagut<\/strong>, Els 5 Sentits<\/strong>, Entrecopes<\/strong>, Palau del Bar\u00f3<\/strong>, Sadoll<\/strong> and Txar3verd<\/strong> are the 8 restaurants offering 25\u20ac menus. Finally, but not least, El Terrat<\/strong> and Taller de Cuina<\/strong> have designed two spectacular menus at 35\u20ac that will definitely honour Roman cuisine.<\/p>\n

To help squeeze down all this food and try to imitate the famous Roman bacchanals, the restaurants taking part in Tarraco a Taula<\/strong> will be offering a number of craft beers (Clandestines \u201cAtheus\u201d<\/strong> and Rosita \u201cD\u2019Ivori\u201d<\/strong>) and natural wines (Sicus<\/strong> ros\u00e9 and red 2014, C\u00f2smic<\/strong> white and red 2014, Laureano Serres \u201cAbeurador 2014\u201d<\/strong>, and Joan Ramon Escoda \u201cNas de gegant 2013\u201d<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
