This is the new project by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.argostarragona.eu\">Argos Serveis Culturals<\/a><\/strong> specially designed for those visitors willing to know more about history.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits05.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2057\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits05.jpg\" alt=\"Perseguits05\" width=\"960\" height=\"642\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2057\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits05.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits05-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Camp de Mart<\/strong> is the very first location. The tour starts outside the Walls, just by the fortifications, where allegedly witches gathered to create medical potions, result of their herbs extensive knowledge. All this wisdom though, ended up costing their lives, as they were implacably persecuted by <strong>Joan Malet<\/strong>, a Moorish born in <strong>Flix<\/strong> that had become a true professional when it came to chasing witches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits04.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2056\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits04.jpg\" alt=\"Perseguits04\" width=\"960\" height=\"609\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2056\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits04.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits04-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the shelter of the Cathedral, we find the second story that tells us about the <strong>Templars<\/strong>, the warriors that took part in the <strong>crusades<\/strong>, and that were persecuted during the 14th century by the Church and some monarchs, aiming their economic power. In <strong>Tarragona<\/strong> though, <strong>Templars<\/strong> managed to save their lives after the favourable decisions taken in the four provincial councils held in the Cathedral\u2019s cloister in the beginning of the 14th century.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2054\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits03.jpg\" alt=\"Perseguits03\" width=\"960\" height=\"665\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2054\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits03.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.tarragonaexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Perseguits03-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, we can\u2019t fully understand the <strong>Medieval Period<\/strong> without talking about the Jews. Tarragona presents clear evidences of this people in the Part Alta area, where a numerous Jewish community used to live until 1492, among which we can highlight doctor <strong>Benvenist Samuel<\/strong>, who \u2013among others\u2013 was known for having translated treatises about asthma into Latin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Argos<\/strong> ends \u201c<strong>Perseguits<\/strong>\u201d telling us about how, during the <strong>Middle Ages<\/strong>, labour slavery wreaked havoc. This story, as the epilogue for this guided tour, has a happy ending. It is about the life of the artisan <strong>Jordi de D\u00e9u<\/strong>, who worked \u2013among others\u2013 in the construction of the tympanum located in the <strong>Tarragona Cathedral<\/strong>\u2019s fa\u00e7ade, under the orders of the master <strong>Jaume Cascalls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Perseguits<\/strong>\u201d by <strong>Argos<\/strong> is an excellent opportunity to get deeper into the darkness of the Medieval <strong>Tarragona<\/strong>, and try to get some light through the stories led by the ancestors of today\u2019s Tarragona people.
