In fact, a good traveller should always find a gap in their packed agenda to walk around some of the most traditional markets in their destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some are remarkable thanks to their architectural features; some, to their level of specialisation, or the food users can find, or their antiquities or second-hand items, or even thanks to diverse elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such as their colour, their culture variety, or the mere experience one gets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just walking into them and experiencing that very personal and intimate atmosphere\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarragona<\/strong> has, these days, 2 main markets<\/strong><\/a> (Central<\/strong><\/a> and Torreforta<\/strong><\/a>) and 7 mobile street markets<\/strong><\/a> (Rambla Nova<\/strong>, Pla\u00e7a del F\u00f2rum<\/strong>, Sant Pere i Sant Pau<\/strong>, Sant Salvador<\/strong>, Part Alta<\/strong>, the Mercal Municipal de Torreforta<\/strong> surroundings, and Bonavista<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the latter, there\u2019s one that stands out: the Bonavista street market<\/a><\/strong>, due on Sundays, which is the largest within the Tarragona<\/strong> area and a true pilgrimage destination for thousands of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located on a terrace between Bonavista<\/strong> and Campclar<\/strong>, the market gathers a great number of people that spend hours either working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a sort of modus vivendi\u2013 or as a kind of Sunday sport session, a habit, a true bargain search, or a mere excuse to socialize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like Greeks used to do in the ancient agora or Romans, in the forum markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bonavista<\/strong> street market has everything you might expect: clothing, footwear, leather goods, costume jewellery, home items, food\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking around it is being overwhelmed by a burst of colours, by people picking and choosing, by sellers shouting to call everyone\u2019s attention, by lights and aromas, and also by very peculiar characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if you feel like having a bite \u2013before, during or after the tour\u2013, we recommend that you enjoy the various and excellent tapas bars distributed all across the neighbourhood<\/a>: great quality at low prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
