Espai Turisme” (Carrer Major, 37) welcomes the exhibit #Fotodeldia 2014 (#Photooftheday) until the 31st of March. This is a compilation of 365 pictures of the city, one per day, which got selected on Instagram –provided they were tagged as #Tarragona– and then published on Tarragona Turisme’s Facebook Page (Tarragonatourism). The showing displays last years’ 365 photos onto 2 large boards, plus a separate board for the 12 winning pictures; that is, the 12 most voted pictures by our Facebook followers. Besides, the 365 pictures from 2013 can also be admired in the showing.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for the #Fotodelany 2014 (#Photooftheyear); that is, the very best photograph among the 12 winning ones. Ballots can be found in Espai Turisme’s main hall, so that everyone gets to choose their favourite pic, and then insert it into a ballot box. The author of the winning picture will get a meal for 2 people in one of the Tarragona Gastronòmica restaurants, plus a mystery guided tour; the very same prize that will be awarded to one of the voters thanks to a final raffle.

This year’s #photooftheday contest –the 3rd edition– has increased the amount of the city’s pictures of Instagram, recently surpassing 260,000 photos uploaded with the tag #Tarragona. This photographic competition, which has followed an increasing success, is very popular on the social network. Pictures with the highest impact got way over 20,000 visits, around 1,000 likes, 30 comments and were shared almost 200 times on Tarragona Turisme’s Facebook; an incredible network impact.

If you haven’t taken part in the contest yet, you can do so this year. All you need is an Instagram profile, to upload pictures of the city using the hashtag #Tarragona and see if it gets selected. On average, around 300 pictures are posted on Instagram following these guidelines every day, which goes up to 500 on certain days or during special events. And if you’d like your photo to become the most voted on of the month, we do recommend that you try and get as many Facebook friends as possible to vote for your photograph they will find in Tarragona Turisme’s Facebook Page.

Good luck!
