RENFE and the Patronat Municipal de Turisme of Tarragona have introduced The Train of Calçots, a campaign available all weekends until March 9 offering special discounts to both AVE and Euromed passengers from Madrid, Zaragoza, Alicante, Valencia and Castellón to Tarragona, as well as great discounts on restaurants where traditional calçotadas are offered and hotels taking part on this initiative.
RENFE will be offering 5,800 promotional tickets allowing passengers to travel, for example, from Madrid to Camp de Tarragona at just 37,20€, from Zaragoza to Tarragona at 18,25€ and from Valencia to Tarragona at just 15,60€.
Travellers willing to make the most of the tourist-gastronomic experience will benefit from great discounts on restaurants and hotels taking part in the promotion. In the same way, passengers of The Train of Calçots will get, included in the price of their hotel booking, a return ticket from Camp de Tarragona station to the corresponding hotels as well as special prices on tickets that will take them to the chosen restaurants.
Thanks to this campaign, RENFE and Tarragona Turisme are willing to make the calçot known on areas that are well-connected to the Tarragona area by train.
‘The Train of Calçots’, step by step
Everyone willing to enjoy the special promotion has to book an AVE or Euromed ticket (www.renfe.com) towards Camp de Tarragona station.
Then, once the ticket is bought, customers will take advantage of special prices on hotels in Tarragona for the weekend, which will include returning tickets to the train station. 11 hotels are taking part with prices between 37€ and 49,50€.
Next step will be booking a calçotada on the favourite restaurant among those taking part, available at the Restaurant Calçotada website. Customers will have a choice of either a traditional calçotada or a calçot tasting menu.
Finally, special prices are also available for customers thanks to ShuttleHotel. These tickets will be purchased in the very same hotels and the routes will include Valls, Nulles, Picamoixons and Renau, with prices starting at just 19€ (return ticket), and to Falset, at just 25€ per person (return ticket). Departures are set at 12pm and returns, at 5pm.
